Building Official / Permits

The building official is responsible for a number of functions that insure citizen safety and sound development. He/she provides inspections and approves permits for building, electric, plumbing, HVAC and for rental units. He/she also acts as planning and zoning official, board of adjustment official and coordinates the flood plain program.

Certification:
Building, electrical, plumbing and HVAC technicians must be certified to provide their services within the city. Tests are given to measure familiarity with building codes. Those passing the test will receive certification and may then obtain a business license. For more information or to take the test, contact the Building Official.
